The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season presents a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
